Suggest Treatment For Nasal Congestions And Runny Nose

My 12 year old daughter has lost her voice since last Thursday. She also has nasal congestions and runny nose. Her loss of voice would only occur every once in a while. We went to the doctor today and he said that he didn t see any redness or irritation in her throat. Treating it with a steroid and Z-pak. We started the Z-pak today and will start the steroid tomorrow. Should i attribute this to a common cold or should I be concerned. He also is referring us to an ENT specialist for a consult but will not get that approval for a few days.

Thanks for your query.
Noted the history related to to your daughter about loosing voice at the age of 12 after nasal congestion and runny nose.
This is definitely indicative of laryngitis.
I would advise you to consult an ENT Surgeon to get her laryngoscopy examination.,
Till you get to see an ENT continue the medicines of Z-pack, steroids.
Also needed are the following factors for early and complete recovery:
- Strict voice rest.
Steam inhalation.
soft bland diet and so on.
ENT will also see if these changes are related to the propblems at the moments.
