I HAVE A VERY BAD MUCOUS PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD THE GASTRO UPPER AND LOWER TESTS AND ALL COMES BACK OK. I WATCH WHAT I EAT ETC., BUT EVERY NIGHT I HAVE A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH MUCOUS IN MY THROAT, KEEPS ME AWAKE FOR HOURS UNTIL I CAN COUGH IT OUT. I REALLY DON T KNOW WHAT TO DO. WONDERING IF SOMETHING LIKE ACUPUNCTURE MIGHT BE OF HELP. OR WHAT ELSE?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of mucous problem in throat which is due to inflammation in the sinus or nasal lining. It could be due to severe upper respiratory tract infection as well. Need not to worry much and you should consult an ENT specialist once and get evaluated. Do steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room. You should sleep with head slightly raised so that the sinus can easily clear off. You should take antibiotics like Augmentin or Azithromycin along with anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen and decongestant nasal sprays. you should take mucolytics like Ambroxol. Saline nasal spray can help in loosening the mucous and easy draining.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
