Suggest Treatment For Migraine Aura

Hi, A week or so ago while shopping I noticed a vision change. The lights were bright and it seemed they became more intense with glare. The colors seemed a little muted and it has persisted for over a week. I normally have 20/20-30 vision and wear reading glasses. I struggle to see images clearly like reading the words off tv. It s also more difficult to see clearly while driving. Bright lights seem to dominate thus causing discomfort. When I close my eyes to sleep or meditate I see vibrant colors of blues and greens turning into bright whites and yellows. I am on restatis for dry eyes and have started taking periactin for Migraines (thinking this is a form of that). Should I be concerned?

Neurologist 's  Response
Hi,

Migraine associated visual changes are unlikely to continue for 1 week. Often, a transient visual aura is associated with migraine. So, ophthalmological evaluation should be done for the same. I suggest you to visit an Eye specialist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ajay Panwar, Neurologist
