Suggest Treatment For Metastatic Breast Cancer

I am trying to find out info for my sister in law...diagnosed last week in New Jersey. She will be going to Moffitt for care and treatment...She is arriving in Tampa tomorrow with her initial biopsy report and her Dr. Notes to date. Has an appt at dr. Antonio Zampano s office in Sun City Center, Fl., where she will be living..She is 65 years old, no history of cancer, post menopausal , no pregnancies. Us married. We will be caring for her, her brother and I. I mostly wanted to see what I could learn online. To understand her road to recovery..We hope. Oh I remember her saying metastatic B.C. At least one lymph positive...she was supposed to get further tests this week (pet scan), and a more extensive Bx., but decided to do everything here, since she would be living here now. Can you advise anything I can research online to be of help for her, so I can understand some things we will be hearing soon? Thank you. Peggy Pinelli

Hello,

Metastatic breast cancer treatment involves hormone therapy, chemotherapy (chemo), targeted drugs, immunotherapy and some combination of these. Surgery and/or radiotherapy may be useful in certain conditions. It depends upon the extent of metastasis and patient's overall well-being. You can accompany her to the hospital and can talk to her doctor for further information.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
