Suggest Treatment For Meniscus Tear After Knee Injury

I recently got a knee MRI for a knee injury I had about 3 weeks ago. My symptoms have not gotten better whatsoever, I ve missed a lot of work because of not being able to walk a lot or straighten my leg all the way. MRI showed a tear in my meniscus, but I have to wait to see my orthopedic surgeon. I would like to know if I need to have surgery or not on my torn meniscus.

Hi.

The need for surgery will be decided based on your MRI result and the grade. Mostly an arthroscopy will be advised which will be both diagnostic as well as therapeutic. This is a simple day care procedure, so there is nothing to worry about really. But in my opinion you should go ahead with the arthroscopy.

Best wishes.
