Hi,
You have mentioned your husband had stroke and is also underwent pace maker implantation.
I want to know
1) Any associated comorbid conditions like diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol problem, heart disease (heart attack).
2) Any abnormalities of kidney function.
3) Current medicines he is on.
4) Any paralysis of limbs, visual impairment, slurred speech.
(Usually stroke symptoms depends upon blockade in artery of brain & area of brain damaged)

Usually pace maker implantation is needed in patient with impaired heart beats (cardiac arrhythmia - abnormalities of conduction system of heart) this might be due to damage to conduction system due to lack of blood supply (as in case of heart attack), degenerative changes (old age), metabolic abnormalities as in case of kidney dysfunction or use of certain medicines.

Usually stroke and heart attack are due to blockages in blood vessels.
Stroke may be aggravated by cardiac arrhythmia.

Memory problem in your husband may be due to-
1) Damage to the area of brain which control the memory (temporal lobe and hippocrampus)
2) Metabolic problems like electrolyte imbalance due to drugs or kidney abnormalities.
3) Recurrent hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) this happens in persons with diabetes on treatment. (medicine induced).

Continue blood thinners and other medicines advised by your doctor.
