Suggest Treatment For Macroscopic Haematuria

I had sudden macroscopic haematuria during my jogging. Just half day it became microscope haematuria. The second day the Dr. had me a CAT scam check. The results are normal. I am 48 years old and I believe I am very healthy with no medication for me. I heard this blood in urine may caused by burst blood vessel in bladder like nose bleeding. Is this the possibility? Since I did cat scam and the bladder is normal do I need to have cyctoscopy check. How much percentage accuracy is for CAT scam. Is cyctoscopy more accuracy? Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The CT scan and cystoscope both have almost the same sensitivity and specificity for detecting bladder lesion. However, if any lesion present than biopsy can be taken during cystoscopy.

The one single hematuria episode could be due to urinary tract infection as well which can damage lining epithelia.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
