Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mom had discovered a lump under left arm a year ago had a mammogram which came out fine had a ultrasound on the area of where the lump was.Her doctor saw it and sad it was fatty tissue wanted to see her she didnt not go.A year later she went to see her kidney doctor that felt the lump and said it may have gone done to her breast but may have not as well. She went to her primary care physician and he could not feel any lump a few days latter he sent her a letter to get a mamamogram and consult with a surgeon. She is going tommorrow to get a snapshot of that spot where the lump suppose to be I am confused.I know only correct examanation can give the final result. Is it possible it can just be fatty tissue. And God forbid if it was something serious after one year wouldnt there be symptoms?THank you for listening.
Armpit lumps may not always be malignant, some can be cysts, lipomas, fibro-adenomas, adverse reactions to vaccines, allergic reactions to deodorants, antiperspirants, etc.
However to be on the safer side your mom should get biopsy done to confirm that its not malignant as armpit lumps may be indicative of breast cancer.
Take pain relievers to ease pain. Warm compress may be effective. Best treatment for lipoma is surgical removal or liposuction. Followed by conservative treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
