Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a large, semi firm lump inside my anus. It blocks bowel movements and, after taking laxatives, I had to reach up with one finger and push it to the side to get anything larger that a pea out. I have passed mucus in my stool, there was a pea sized amount of bloody mucus a couple days ago. The lump is about the size of a ping-pong ball and completely painless. I have had issues with constipation that I helped relieve with my finger in the past 1 or 2 times (they resolved on their own after) but I ve never felt this lump.
Hi. Sorry to hear about your problem. As per your description it seems to be a polyp. Polyps are growths most commonly arising from mucosa into the lumen(cavity). And these polyps are mostly rectal origin. Little more information may be needed to predict the exact nature of the polyp (like your age, history of polyp in the family) although accurate diagnosis will be made with tissue diagnosis. So my advice at the moment is to visit a surgeon and get it surgically removed. Afterwards it should be sent to pathalogy lab for examination and determining exact nature of the polyp and further management accordingly. Wishing you best of health. Regards.
