Suggest Treatment For Lower Back Pain After Colonoscopy
Hi ~thank you for answering my questions~I m 51 and had my first colonoscopy done Friday ,its Monday and I ve having some lower back pain along with lower abdominal pain and discomfort ..I feel bloated and having a hard time digesting food.My lower left leg feels pain from the lower back pain. I feel nauseated and very tired and weak. After the procedure I felt fine until I started to eat again .Just curious of how would it feel if it was trapped air and if so how do I un trap it? if I need to go back to the doctors what would be the symptoms to prompt me ? thank you so much
Actually, during the procedure, flexible colonoscope touches our intestine causing decrease in gut motility which here could be the reason of your trapped air inside intestine leading to bloating.
Other causes could be dyspepsia, constipation or IBS in which you will suffere from gas trouble.
Treatment is mainly depends on the cause. It may get subsided within 3 to 5 days by itself but in case if symptoms persists then you will need antibiotics (quinolones or antiprotozoals), proton pump inhibitors with prebiotics and probiotics to restore the gut flora.
You should see gastroenterologist if you won't get any relief even after 5 days.
