Suggest Treatment For Loss Of Memory And Balance

HI, I am a very active 55 year old. Have been retired since age 42, traveling the world, exploring etc, rain forest, north/south poles, Guyanese rain forest, by myself, and standard trips too. Ran 52 newspapers for 20 years as Assistant to President of major Newspaper chain. I was just starting my live, really was. Felt like I was 30. Stayed home, started a commercial photography business in order to work from home in order to be present for my only child while in middle-high school. When my child reached University level, I started volunteering at local ER of local hospital. I loved it. I returned to school in the nursing field as second career. Graduated top of class, + 3 out of 250ish people received 100%+ in state board exam. I was one of them. Easy for me since my mother tongue is French, English self taught when moved to USA, lost my accent. Nursing was not difficult, I knew Latin and Greek prefix-suffix. One week before starting to work at hospital, I was hit in a drive thru..... yes.... a drive thru for an ice cream cone to celebrate a huge accomplishment, but had no time to celebrate. I have been bed ridden since... lost purpose, direction, and having difficulty finding good doctor. My insurance changed after 25+ years with same internist who always referred me to good associates. now with new doc who does not know me prior to accident. I was referred to either Dr. Jason E. Garber ,MD, FACS or Dr. Stuart S. Kaplan MD both practicing at the Western Regional Center for Brain and Spine surgery in Las Vegas, NV. I do not know how to choose which doctor is best for me. I do not know what will be done, afraid of having surgery in Las Vegas. I was rear ended in a drive thru ! yes indeed, by a truck. 6-22-2012 - Fractured L-4 + facet fracture -- un-diagnosed concussion caused a TBI and CBI (I noticed 6 months after accident that I was losing my memory, balance, ability to count, apathy, sleep practically 18 hrs/day still, yet always tired and do not feel rested, i push myself, i am not lazy. medicine does not relieve pain nor puts me to sleep. now in past 2 months, becoming dyslexic (written and a lot of difficulty understanding simple reading. I get lost everywhere I go, even places I ve been going for 15 years. i.e. my own mother s home. -MRI with/without contrast shows now 8 bulging discs w/tumors and a 5.4 tumor on coxis (tailbone) -3T MRI of head shows damage as well. closed brain injury and TBI -I suffer 24/7 extreme pain. Had to retain Attorneys in order to collect from my own under and un-insured motorist insurance I purchase. The insurance $$ from the person who hit me was spent on chiropractor, which made things worse.... rhysotomy that helped for 12 hrs....etc. now my condition is much worse. I feel all the goals i had and just dreams. I wanted to volunteer in any way i could with red cross across the world, or thru church missions building wells in jungle etc. It s all gone now. My insurance has changed in January 2014 and since then have been given the run around for 9 months, and given pain medication that doesn t even works, just takes 1 layer of pain off, only way i can explain. I am losing my memory faster than i could ever imagine. So, so frightening. Unable to work since. I am being referred to the doctors above + neuro. Does anyone know these doctors, does anyone know what is happening to me. Please, I just came across this web page by accident, yet I don t believe in accidents! I would appreciate any info you could provide. I still have so so much to give, I have so much i want to give. Life as I know it cannot end this way. I need help please.

Hi,

What you need is a neurologist who is specialized in physically traumatized brains. Do all neurologist have this knowledge? To some extent, yes. But you need a physician who is entirely dedicated to post-trauma brains. physical trauma.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Marius Lazar, Dermatologist
