Suggest Treatment For Loose Motion In A Baby

Hi my 12 week old baby has been having on average 6 very loose bowel movements a day for the last 5 days, this is much more than usual for her. She also seems to have a decreased apetite and is fighting the botle during feeds. She often only takes 2-3oz. She is very happy in herself but I m wondering what is wrong?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms are typical of gastroenteritis probably viral in origin. Indigestion is also a possibility.

In most cases it will resolve by itself without any complications. Continue breastfeeding to prevent dehydration.

If there is symptoms like fever or decreased activity, consult a pediatrician at the earliest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
