I have severe stomach cramping that came about a few hours ago. It felt like cramping that occurs pre-diarrhea. I ve had loose watery stools for a couple of days but just finished a course of azithromycin two days ago and assumed that was the cause. Today s onset was much worse and included burning (like acid reflux for which I take omeprazole daily), severe cramping starting I m upper abdomen and slowrly moving to lower abdomen, and nausea. Novomiting but have loose stool that lookslike moss - very stringy. I took gas-x for cramping and it has subsided somewhat. Is it safe to take immodium for the loose stools? It s very acidic and painful but I hesitate in case this isn t from the antibiotics and is maybe gastroenteritis and I need to get it out? Antibiotics always make me very sick to my stomach but not usually two days after stopping. I ve been eating light like chicken soup and baked potatoes. I will follow up with my doc if not better tomorrow but is it safe to take immodium tonight? If it is a virus, will taking immodiim cause me to begin vomiting if it can t come out the other end?
