Hello,

There are certain cases with viral gastroenteritis giving rise to liver enlargement due to accumulation of certain toxins in the liver. Once gastroenteritis is controlled, ultrasound evaluation of liver size after 2 weeks is mandatory, if it was due to that it is resolved, if it was pre-existing it will be there as such.

Suggestions on therapy part:
•     Consume plenty of liquids preferably in form of boiled water, coconut water, lemon juice, green tea, coffee, buttermilk, etc.
• Soft light diet at regular intervals
• Avoid oily/spicy/non-veg /junk foods/smoking/alcohol

In our clinic, we recommend certain antibiotics, proton pump inhibitors, herbal preparations for liver part, probiotics according to the clinical severity and follow-up the patient with regular evaluation by serial checking and laboratory, ultrasound parameters. Maintain your BP, blood sugar, cholesterol, and weight.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
