Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

Udiliv (Ursodeoxycholic acid) from the root-word for bear urso, as bear bile contains the substance, is one of the secondary bile acids, which are metabolic byproducts of intestinal bacteria

The drug reduces cholesterol absorption and is used to dissolve (cholesterol) gallstones in patients who want an alternative to surgery.

It would have been great had I examined her on my own.

You see, she is suffering from Nonalcoholic Fatty liver disease , cirrhosis.
So, she will need a lifelong support of Udiliv. The dose will be titrated by your doctor depending on the liver function reports.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing your wife good health.
