My father who is 94 years old has been experiencing an increasing number of episodes of light headedness and weakness during the day. He sometimes passes out momentarily. My mother has had to press his lifeline button to get get help getting him up. He has had tests but they can t seem to determine whats wrong with him. Any suggestions on what we might be missing. General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, thank you for posting.

I have gone through your query and I understand your concerns.

I think that your father might suffer from Cerebral atherosclerosis, that is manifested with weakness, fatigue, lightheadedness, dizziness, memory loss and depression.
The diagnosis of this condition is determined by angiogram and MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging).

The treatment of this condition contains antithrombotic medications.

You should contact a neurologist in order to discuss about the treatment.

All the best.
Dr. Behar.
