I have a doubt regarding a disease, can you help me out. My father is suffering from Leukoplakia with severe dysplasia of early invasion. Is it cancer? He is having white and red patches on his tongue, slight throat and ear pain is there. Doctor sais they have to remove that lesion. How many months will be the rest period after that? In internet, i had read it is also symptoms of HIV and AIDS. Is that true?

Hi...
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns...

As per your complain it seems that your father is suffering from Erythroleukoplakia or Speckled Leukoplakia in which there is a mixture of red and white patch and it has a more chance of converting into malignant transformation..
It occurs due to continuous irritation like with denture, tobacco and alcoholism etc..
It is mostly treated with surgical removal and the cumulative treatment can be given with antioxidants like Lycopene, beta carotene and multivitamins..
The duration of healing depend upon the severity and spread of lesion and take from a few weeks to even 2 to 3 months to heal and even more..

You should immediately proceed with the treatment as it needs immediate attention along with it complete cessation of tobacco and alcohol has to be done..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
