Have pain in my left hand, in the joint where my finger joins my hand. Aches all the time and sometimes the side of my hand draws up. In other words, the flesh tightens up on that side, as if it is cramping. The thumb on the same had aches and I have general weakness in that hand

Cervical spine disease may be the likely cause of your symptoms and this can be managed with cervical belt but better to get it conform and for that you need to get done the imaging study of cervical spine either x-ray or MRI hope this helps.
