Suggest Treatment For Left Atrial Abnormality With Chest Pain

My 9 year old son, who is just under 5 foot and just over 100 lbs, just had an ecg that said he had a left atrial abnormality. He has no past medical issues. What does this mean? Is it serious? Is it genetic or could it be caused by him being overweight? From time to time his dad said he complains of pains in his chest. Thank you from a mother just trying to get answers to see where we go from here.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to Hcm,
I totally understand your concern madam. Chest pain can be due to him being over weight. However every cheat pain has no relation to heart abnormality. And the findings you mentioned especially from an ecg is a very non specific one. However, if I were your pediatrician and I have a doubt like this, I would get an echocardiogram done on your son , to be sure if heart is alright. Hope the advice guides you well. Take care.
