Suggest Treatment For Large, Swollen And Red Blister On Toenail
I m trying to decide if it s best to treat at home or take my 5 year old son in to the Dr. 11 days ago my son woke up in the middle of the night saying his second toe was really hurting. When I looked there was a large blister about the size of his toenail above the toenail. It looked like he was in pain from the pressure of the blister. I put rubbing alcohol to clean the toe then let the fluid out with a steril needle. It felt much better. I put polysporin on the toe and a bandage. The next day I re examined it when the bandage fell off. His toenail was moveable not stationary. The toe was red. Later my husband was looking at the toe without my concent he peeled off the skin that he thought looked dead. After that it was much more red. I digilantly kept redressing it at least daily sometimes more because it would keep coming off. I would usually put co ban over to better keep on the dressing. After several days it was looking less red and seemed to be healing. I wet out of town for a two days and much to my dismay the toe was not bandaged by the caretaker and the toe now looked like the toenail has disinigrated to half the size and the toe is not swollen but is very red about 3 cm below the toenail and around the sides and six cm above toenail. I don t know wither to keep dressing it for a few days or to take him in to the dr. Help please!
