Suggest Treatment For Large Painful Lump On The Tongue

A work associate has a large lump on his tongue which is causing him pain, inability to speak well and difficulty swallowing. He went to a walk-in clinic which prescribed steroids and some pain meds. I saw a photo of the lump and it covers half of his tongue. What might this be?

Fibroma may ruled out.
Any diagnosis depend on size, consistency and color of lesion so mention it.
granular cell lesion may ruled out.
punch biopsy is used for further diagnosis.
tresatment is depend on cause.
