Suggest Treatment For Large Boil Filled With Pus On My Inner Right Buttock

For the last few months i Have a large boil on my inner right buttock. Have been able to get large amounts of pus out previously. Now it s harder and getting bigger(larger than a grape, a bit smaller than a golf ball) and can not find a pore large enough to even attempt to squeeze out anything. It s constantely painful l, can barely sit down. . Does it need to be lanced? if do is this something i can do at home? Is there a home remedy that could draw it out or help alleviate the symptoms ? There are now others emerging and I don t know what to do. I have previously been able to rid them but this one had come back much bigger than before, hence my extreme concern. Please help?

Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

Boils or furuncle are actually bacterial infection of/ about the hair follicles often associated with surrounding cellulitis.

If I was the treating doctor I would have advised an oral antibiotic for a week (My choice of oral antibiotic would have been Amoxycillin 500mg in combination with clavulanic acid 125 mg, thrice daily for a week. One such combination is a popular brand marketed by GSK in India i.e Augmentin 625 mg).

An OTC topical antibacterial e.g 2% Mupirocin twice daily can be applied over the boil. Along with oral antibiotics, it would hasten the resolution of infection.

An OTC pain killer e.g Ibuprofen 400mg (bruffen tablets) twice or thrice daily, would provide symptomatic relief from pain and swelling.
