Suggest Treatment For Knee Cap Swelling

I m a mason. While working on the job site. We started to go the next level. One of the walk boards slip out and hit my kneecap out of place. As I crawled to higher ground, and tried to stand. It gave out again. Once again I put my kneecap in with great pain.At the emergency room. They gave me a knee brace. I don t need the brace anymore, and I m now walking with a limp. I put ice packs on it often. But the swelling is still there. How long before I m healed to go back to work?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
I would suggest you to show it to orthopaedic surgeon and get MRI of the knee joint to make sure that there is no inside problem like meniscus injury or ligament injury. I would also like to suggest you to take Brufen for pain relief along with ice application and compression bandage.
