Suggest Treatment For Itchy Spot On Scalp

I have had one spot on my scalp that itched terribly. Had medicine and treated by my dermatologist , Last treatment he gave me steroid shots in my scalp. I now have a large indention in my scalp and knots around it. The itching is starting to return. What do you suggest?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have itchy spot on scalp. Well folliculitis that is hair follicle infection caused by Staphylococcus bacteria infection.It can also be due to allergic reaction to certain chemicals and shampoos , contact dermatitis , Seborrheic Dermatitis, Scalp Psoriasis. I would suggest you to consult a dermatologist and get evaluated and he can do a clinical evaluation along with investigations to rule out for the exact cause of the symptoms and treatment can be done accordingly. In case of it is due to Acne of the scalp topical application of Clindamycin gels along with Benzoyl Peroxide gel and using salicylic acid containing shampoos can help. In case of Folliculitis topical antibacterial ointments and at times Oral antibiotics can help. In case of allergic reaction avoiding using the particular cosmetics and steroid lotion can help.
