Suggest Treatment For Itchy Spot On Scalp

my grandson had a form of the chickenpox virus. Lasted 6 weeks or more. He had scabs on his scalp. he has one spot in his hair that he kept picking off. that spot has been red from him itching it and the hair is gone from an area about the size of a dime. This is the only spot and no pets around. Nurse practioner thinks it may be ringworm and is prescribing Terbinafine HCL 387.5 packets. I am concerned about taking this medication. I don t see anything that looks like ringworm. Is there any danger in taking this oral med? or is some kind of a topical cream an alternative. He is 10 years old and is ADHD on Daytrana 20mg/9hr transdermal patch.
