Suggest Treatment For Itchy Scaly Lesions On Legs And Feet

Hi. I gave my 18 year old daughter a cycle of 3 bottles of tisane de durbon and did not give her a purge. It brought on ugly itchy scale-like ringwormy lesions on her legs and feet. I tried many different ointments and dermatologists, nothing is helping. We are frustrated cause the spots can be seen and are embarrassing

Hello,

I can understand your concern for itchy scaly lesions on legs and feet and scale-like ringworm lesions with pigmentation.

After analyzing the query it seems that your daughter seems to have developed “Post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation" or PIH. The leg area is prone for over production of melanin in the skin.

The itchy scaly lesions on legs and feet and scale-like ringworm lesions with pigmentation is due to the activity of melanocytes in the skin. These melanocytes are the cells which regularly produces color/pigment known as melanin in the skin. These are superficially present in the upper skin known as epidermis. This is a tendency in us to get higher activity of these and cause the ugly looking spots.

I suggest you to stop over medications and apply any bland moisturizing cream such as liquid paraffin for multiple times a day. Do not scratch or rub the skin as it can lead to further aggravation. For skin lightening in your kind of cases I prefer to give kojic acid to reduce the pigmentation.

All the best.
