Suggest Treatment For Itchy Red Rashes On The Arm

I had blood drawn for thyroid testing on Feb 2, 2015 it s now Wednesday Feb 4. My right arm is a tattoo sleeve. Its not complete coverage. Where She took the blood it is tattooed. I have noticed as of yesterday Feb 3 that I have a superficially raised rash that itches like crazy when I touch it on my arm. It s from my wrist to my shoulder. Only on that arm and the inside next to the axillary as well. Looks like heat but...... Don t think so. I do wear allot of sweat shirts hoodies of course it s cold. I ve never had it happen before. Usually they take blood from my left arm because of the tattoo but she said it was fine. Anyt thoughts or suggestions. Thanks!!

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of itchy red rashes on the arm which seems to be due to contact dermatitis. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like allergic reaction, psoriasis , skin infection, fungal infection. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to keep your skin clean and dry , protect it from sun. If condition doesn't get well then consult dermatologist for proper examination. Doctor may order certain test like skin patch test , blood test , allergy test and take history to rule out the side effects of certain drug . Doctor may prescribe immunosuppressants along with anti inflammatory and corticosteroid ointment. Doctor may also prescribe antifungal like fluconazole or anti bacterial like clindamycin. You should apply only petroleum jelly and take antihistamine like benadryl twice a day. Avoid touching or pricking rashes.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
