Hi..
Thanks for the query..

As per your complain Herpes is a Viral infection and it is caused by HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS and leads to formation of small blisters knowns as Cold Sores..
As you have itching and discomfort and you are using Canesten which is an anti-fungal agent and has no role in treating or reducing the symptoms of viral infection and for this you need to take anti-viral therapy..
You should apply antiviral ointments containing Acyclovir which is an anti-viral drug and will help in reducing viral count over the skin..
Oral Antiviral drugs like Acyclovir, Valacyclovir,Famicyclovir has to be taken to prevent further outbreaks as antiviral drugs cannot resolve the ongoing infection but helps in preventing outbreaks..
As of the present infection is concerned the Herpes infection continues for a period of about two weeks or less and then resolve so the present infection will resolve in this time duration..
You should consult a DERMATOLOGIST and get evaluated and medications will be advised accordingly..

Hope this helps..

Thanks and regards..
