Suggest Treatment For Itching, Dryness And Swelling In The Lips
My lips are slightly swollen and are dry and itchy. I have tiny bumps around the edges of my top lip. This started yesterday morning. I've tried blistex, vaseline, coconut oil and honey and my lips just completely absorbs it all. Your advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
It looks like bumps on the lips along with swelling, itching, and dryness seems to be due to viral infection known as cold sores caused by herpes simplex virus 1. Secondly, it can be due to fungal infection, allergic reaction, or chapped lips. I would suggest you to first get it confirmed that what the cause of the symptoms by consulting a physician and getting evaluated. In case of viral infection, oral and topical antiviral medication like Acyclovir, Valacyclovir, etc., can help.
In case of fungal infection, antifungal ointments can be advised. As of now continue applying thick coat of petroleum jelly over lips, do cool compresses, and avid licking or sucking the lips.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
