Hey ,I love Sun and have spend all my summers in the Sun( 50 years ),last three years my left arm at the end of summer gets dry and itchy,i have gone to two Skin Doctors the first year and both doctors have said it is just dry skin.last Doctor priscribed the Clobetasol Propionate cream USP,0.05% and i have used it for couple of weeks and my itch have gone away until next July comes back ,because of me being in the sun ( I do apply Sunsreanof 30 on my face and body every day when i am in the Sun) this July itching started again and i started the cream ,but does not seem toget read of it ,so I wanted to know why from my whole body only left arm gets so dry that itches where my whole body is always in the Sun,and why this year this cream is not helping me ,and what kind of home remedy or other medicine i can use ?

Dry skin is a common problem encountered by many people. Emollient containing liquid paraffin can be used at least twice a day to reduce the dryness. Topical potent steroid cream like clobetasol should not be used as it will not take care of dry skin and will itself induce adverse effects like striae, acneform eruptions and atrophy .Avoid sun exposure as much as possible and use a sunscreen of SPF 30 half an hour before sun exposure. If you have itching oral antihistamines like fexofenadine may also be used. Consult your dermatologist regarding the above mentioned therapy. Regards
