Suggest Treatment For Inner And Outer Ear Infection

I was told by a doctor last week that I have a double inner and outer ear infection. It is very painful. However, it is getting better from the antibiotics they prescribed me last week. This morning, I felt a small lump located about one inch below my ear. It is slightly painful if I push on it. What could this be? Is it related to the ear infection and treatment of it?

Hi,

A lump under the ear that is painful to touch, when you already have an ongoing ear infection seems to be most probably an infected and swollen lymph node that can be secondary to ear infection. I would however suggest you to once get it clinically checked by your treating physician. In case if it is lymph node then a course of antibiotics can help in reducing the swelling and pain.

An anti inflammatory pain reliever like Advil (Ibuprofen) can help in releveling pain and swelling. Also, do warm compresses over the area, dip a washcloth in warm water and apply over the swelling for relief. Avoid pressing or squeezing the swelling as it can increase pain. Take sufficient rest and avoid stress.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
