Suggest Treatment For Inflamed Tonsil And Painful Swallowing

Inflamed right tonsil. Started a few days ago when noticing slight pain while swallowing. Thought it might be a piece of food caught near the tonsil area so I used one clean index finger to feel around the area. Bleeding followed but shortly went away, followed by relief of the slight pain I was feeling when I swallowed. Repeated the process after the next couple days when pain came back towards the end of each day. Tonight I noticed small, hard white clumps of something that seemed like puss balls or food particles of some kind. Wondering if my tonsils are infected and what I can do considering I have no insurance and no money for treatment.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain it seems that you have an inflammation in throat that seems to be secondary to throat infection causing Tonsillitis and the hard white clumps seems to be tonsil stones or tonsilloliths that are formed due to calcification of food and debris that get accumulated over the tonsil crypts and it is a common cause for inflammation of tonsils ad bad breath in mouth..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and he can do a clinical examination and if tonsil stones are present he can remove them manually using fine tweezers..
He can also advise you anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen to relieve inflammation and pain..
To reduce the frequency of stone formation you can be advised to gargle with a solution of hydrogen peroxide in water..
You can also be advised to do warm saline gargles..
Always gargle with atleast water after eating anything.
Limit intake of dairy products and other high calcium foods as it causes more stone formation..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
