Suggest Treatment For Inflamed Spot On The Forehead

Hi there, I walked quite hard in to a lamppost this morning and fell down. The spot that was hit against the post was just under my eyebrow. I don t think I had a blackout but in the last 5 hrs the area has gotten more inflamed and I was wondering if I should go to a hospital or not?

Hi,

The area you got hit is a very sensitive one and very close to eye. I suggest you go for
1) Ice cold compressor for 10 mins
2) Checking for vision loss
3) If the pain and redness persist even after 24 hrs, kindly consult an eye expert
Most of the times it resolves by itself provided there is no fracture of any orbital bones.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

General & Family Physician Dr. Vasudha's  Response
Hi,

You should apply ice pack on the spot. Take tab Ibuprofen 400 MG after food. Inflammation would be taken care of with this But you need to go to hospital to assess possibility of bone injury. It would be subjected to an X-ray and an expert orthopedic surgeon would advise needful specific treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
