Suggest Treatment For Indentation On Buttocks After Bruising It

I fell about a month ago on my buttocks down a flight of stairs and bruised very badly. The bruise healed, but now I m left with a indentation on the left side of my buttocks. Is this something serious or within time the indentation will fill itself out? I am very nervous that this could be something very serious.

Hi,

Most of the bruised injuries on buttocks heal themselves with time, only with home remedies like rest to injured tissue, warm or cold compresses-- may be done even alternately, several times a day, for 15-20 minutes each time. By gentle stretching of legs, hips and buttocks as well as by OTC anti-inflammatory / anti-pain medicines.

However some times, the injury to the underlying tissue causes damage to muscles as well as death of underlying fat cells. Also sometimes due to pressure, the fat cells are pushed to the adjoining area causing an indentation at the bruised area. Depending on the area and impact of injury, some times the indentation may resolve itself by redistribution of fat cells from the adjoining area to the site of indentation.

However, the indentation which does not resolve itself, will have to be treated with fat replacement and by subcision of the scar to relieve any contractions caused by scarring etc. The fat for replacement is generally taken from abdomen or thighs etc. If the indentation is superficial and wide, then fat replacement can be done by injectable method of fat, but if the indentation is deep, then dermal fat grafting is the method of choice.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
