Suggest Treatment For Immobility Caused Due To Dislocated Kneecap

Hello. My name is Dylan. I am 36 and I have mild cp. Recently I dislocated my kneecap while I was in the tub. it was bad enough that I had to crawl out of the tub...literally! I went to the hospital and was released a few days later with a manual wheelchair. The first time I went to PT they couldn t do anything because I was unable to stand up even. I am able to stand up for small periods of time if I am holding onto the edge of a table with both hands. But still using the wheelchair. About to go back to PT in August. What should I do about this til then??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

For dislocated knee cap first we must know only cap dislocated or ligament rupture. First, apply splint and give rest to knee. If the ligament tear is severe, surgery is a good option to get relief soon.

Hope my answer was helpful. If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Regards,
