Suggest Treatment For Hypertension

My husband has been discharged 2 days ago from the hospital. Acute hypertension with b/p of 170/190. He was given lisinopril to take once daily.. 5 mg. it has lowered his bp somewhat but just took his b/p (he took 5mg at 6:30am this morning) and the b/p now is 172/112. Should I have him take 1/2 (2.5mg) or not.

Dear patient
Hypertension is a disease that needs regular treatment and for life time of patient. Normal blood pressure is systolic 120 mm of mercury and diastolic 80 mm of mercury with 20 plus or minus variation. Your husband has got very high blood pressure and it should be controlled by medication under supervision. He is taking insufficient disease of lisinopril as his blood pressure Is not controlled with this dosage so decrease in dose is not advised. Instead a new anti hypertensive drug should be added. Please take visit to your treating physician and get admission so that regular check of blood pressure can be done till it is controlled. All the best.
