Suggest Treatment For Hypertension

I just had two stints with a heart attack 11/10/2014. They changed my bp meds from lotrel 10/20 to lisinopril 5 mg they doubled the mg to 10 and again to 20. Bloodpressure still thru the roof 180/110. Not lowering at all. Does it take a long time for this to work. Like weeks?

I read your question and I understand your concern.

Those values are very high, and especially in someone who has suffered a heart attack strict monitoring and treatment is needed.
There are several different classes of drugs to treat high blood pressure, often treatment with more than one drug is not enough. Since one doesn't seem to be enough in your case, you should discuss with your doctor the possibility of adding another drug like a beta-blocker (bisoprolol, metoprolol etc), calcium-channel blocker (amlodipin, nitrendipin etc) or diuretic (thiazides etc). There are others as well, I mentioned the most used ones, so we have many guns in our arsenal, it's a question of gradually finding the most appropriate regimen for you, that's why regular check-ups are needed especially in this initial phase.

I hope to have been of help.
