Suggest Treatment For Hurting Knees While Descending A Flight Of Stairs
my knees hurt. hurts to go downstairs hurts if i sit too long. hurts in the middle of the night. they pop and snap if i straighten my leg. i have osteoarthritis in my shoulders so im wonering my knees ache. they hurt going downstairs. when i drive very far. it hurts when i get out of our pickup. hurts in the middle of the night
Osteoarthritis may affect the knees as it has affected your shoulders. On the other hand, there are other causes of knee pain. Because the pain is worse on going downstairs and after sitting for a long time, very likely you have patellofemoral syndrome as well. This is due to the tendon of the thigh muscle and a part of this muscle being weaken on one side causing the knee cap to move outside and is worse when sitting or going downstairs.
Physiotherapy is the mainstay of treatment. This will strengthen the weak muscle and help the knee cap stay in the center during movements and not pulled out from the outside.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
