Is this is the first time, you have a missed period? If so, what the doctor did is the most right way if doing it. As pregnancy is the most common cause for a missed period, we have to rule it out first. if negative, then norethisterone or medroxy progesterone acetate is given to produce withdrawal bleed. If there is withdrawal bleed, it says that the cycle which you had was an anovulatory one. There is no hypoestrogenuc situation. But if it continues to happen, find out the underlying cause. In case if it is pcod, weight reduction will help. Need not use progesterone if periods are coming at intervals of 28+ /- 7 days. Keep a menstrual diary if possible, so that your physician can help you.
