I have had shingles outbreaks 1-2 times a year since 1976. I am now 65 years old and otherwise am in good health. I broke out with shingles blisters on 7/3 on my right shoulder, inside my nose and on my left upper buttock. I also had flu-like symptoms - fatigue and body aches, etc. I took 10 days of 800 mg daily of acyclovir, ending the treatment on 7/12. Today, I have another outbreak on my tailbone and feel generally ill all over - extreme fatigue, headache, body aches. I have another prescription of acyclovir that I began taking today, but I have never had back-to-back shingles outbreaks before. Just wondering if I should keep the same medication dosage and take another round of it for 10 days.
