Suggest Treatment For Hives On Neck And Upper Chast

I have had hives flare ups on my neck and upper chest (when it gets bad) over the last 7 weeks (and never before). Week 6 no flaring but all other weeks at least a day or more. I do also have a lump on my left index finger on the palm side at the base of the finger. It has been there for months but is growing a bit (about the size of a pea now) and hurts when I grab something hard or push it oo much.

Hello,

You are suffering from hives in the cheat and neck. Avoid exposure to sunlight, do not use harsh or chemical based soaps, toiletries or lotions. Avoid extremes of temperature, beware of the food (nuts, milk, berries, fish, shellfish, etc.) you take as they may trigger allergy. Wash your clothes and fabrics (blankets, sheets, etc.) with hot water frequently. Wear cotton clothes, avoid synthetic fabrics. For relief, take antihistamines, oral steroids may be prescribed in case of chronic hives.

For severe hives, you might need an injection of epinephrine or a cortisone medication. Wear loose fitting clothes and applying cool compress may help. You have a lump at the base of your index finger of the palm, it hurts when you grab anything. Your symptoms are indicative of a cyst, ganglion cyst, tendon sheath cyst, tendinitis or a lipoma. You are suggested to see a hand orthopedist for the correct physical therapy and temporary splint.

The ganglion can go away on its own, or might have to be trained or injected with steroid. Rarely they need to be removed. These cysts may change in size or even disappear completely, and they may or may not be painful. These cysts are not cancerous and will not spread to other areas. An aspiration can be performed to remove the fluid from the cyst and decompress it. Surgery involves removing the cyst along with a portion of the joint capsule or tendon sheath.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
