Suggest Treatment For High Fever Despite Taking Tylenol

My niece is eleven years old. She is in UK hospital. Her symptoms are continuous high fever, even with Tylenol and Motrin. Swelling of the eyes, face ,neck, hands and feet. It started with a sore throat. She also has stiff neck, joint soreness, a rash on her stomach, neck, face and ears. Her heart rate is very high, blood pressure very low, oxygen low, inflamed lungs and heart, with fluid in her lungs and now entering her stomach. All obvious illnesses have been ruled out, even things like Lyme s desease and mono. What do you think it is? The doctors are saying she is a mystery!

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I am limited in my ability to help you as I am unable to examine your niece. Also, I do not know how her physicians are evaluating her. But, because of her fever, rash, musculoskeletal symptoms, and swelling possibilities that come to mind are:

-Rheumatic fever.
-Lupus
-Juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
-Allergic reaction.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
