Suggest Treatment For High Cholesterol

I was recently diagnosed with high cholesterol after the passing of my father. It was indeed a very stressful time. I would like to know what cereals to eat for breakfast, or other breakfast ideas, whether coffee a day is fine. Also what types of fruits and veggies to have, meats etc. I really did not have this explained to me, unfortunately. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.
I understand your concern.
You can have all types of cereals, meat and pulses in appropriate quantity. You can have fresh fruits and vegetables as much as you want to. But you need to restrict intake of fat, simple sugar and empty calories. So avoid excessive oily, cheesy foods, cake, cream, cold drinks, chips and other fried foods.
Doing exercise is also very important. Do 30-45 minutes of aerobic exercise like brisk walking.
Hope this will be helpful.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Take care.
