Suggest Treatment For High TSH Level And Difficult Breathing
My mother is of 70 years of age and since past six months she has been suffering some breathing obstruction. Her ECG, Echocardiogram and chest xrays are recently done and all fine. TSH is little high. She also suffered from thyroid and undergone 4-5 years of medication at 10 years back. Continued the medicine called Neo mercazole and stopped it for last 3-4 year. But that time she did not feel this problem. Her father had accute asthama but she does not have this. She feels this proble much in the morning session than in the evening session a day. Please advice.
Hi, Thanks for asking. Based on your query, my opinion is as follows. 1. High TSH indicates hypothyroidism. This can cause difficulty in breathing. 2. Correction of TSH levels to normal through thyroxine therapy is necessary to avoid further complications, which can affect other systems causing cardiac failure, reduced mentation, psychosis, etc. 3. Breathing exercises and bronchodilator along with physiotherapy is also necessary. Discuss with your doctor regarding thyroxine therapy. Hope it helps. Any further queries, happy to help again.
