Suggest Treatment For Hiatal Hernia And Sharp Chest Pain

I just was told I have a significant hiatal hernia after Dr viewed an Xray. I am to take Nexium 2 weeks and return. I have had this mid chest deep pain and it has taken a long time to diagnosis altho. from online symptoms I thought it was this. The key was it hurt so much when lying down. Weird, but that was one of the symptoms. Now... doesn t he have to check it further with a scope or something to know how to procede. I have a lot of problems with the pain all this past year. Once I had an episode where I was retching and then great pain and then later passed clots and bled for 5 days in stools. I wonder if I had a tear now that I check different esophageal issues online. Anyway I kinda wish he would look down there and see the condition of my esoph. Is that being too aggressive in treatment? It hurts at weird times. ALSO LOOKS LIKE I SHOULD GIVE UP COLA DRINKS. BUT, THAT IS ONE OF MY GREATEST TREATS IN MY BUSY LIFE. WHAT ABOUT THE COLAS? MAYBE I SHOULD NOT EDUCATE MYSELF AND SECOND GUESS THE DOCTOR BUT I HAVE A FEELING......

dear patient you have asked a very good question.Now you have hiatus hernia and i guess you know about this condition.What doctors do first is to give you medications which treat your acid reflux disease for symptoms of sharp chest pain,retching etc.Majority of patients get better after taking this medication for one month and then regularly following up with the doctor.Just because you bled for few days doesnt justify you for undergoing any intensive tests.Hope you are not bleeding now.An important thing is cola is very harmful for your condition and it will interfere with you healing process.Take this medication regularly,eat healthy and avoid sour and acidic foods,sleep keeping your head high and you will heal well.If after one month your symptoms dont improve then surgeon will recommend you to undergo a surgery. But most patient heal and dont need surgery.Dont need for any aggressive tests,it will only worsen.
