Suggest Treatment For Headaches, Back Pain And Swelling In The Neck And Face

My 17 year old daughter just received her test results that revealed that she has group C strep. Upon researching group C I see it s rare in humans and commonly found in horses or cattle. Should I be concerned. She s been sick for 7 weeks off and on. Tested negative for Mono. Has white tonsils, constant headache, back pain and swelling in her neck & face. Could be something more then strep?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Her diagnosis is clearly determined strep C infection. Prescription antibiotics should start. Keep well oral hygiene. Gargle with warm water and salt.

Take anti-inflammatory meds like Ibuprofen or acetaminophen. Give plenty of fluids especially plain water with oral rehydration salts.

If let untreated very serious complications might occur including renal or rheumatoid arthritis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
