Suggest Treatment For Hard Painful Lump Behind Ear

A week ago I got a hard lump behind my ear, on the cartilage, extremely painful. It eventually drained a lot of thick pus. As soon as that seemed to go away another one popped up...same exact thing except on other ear. Painful and big. What is causing these and what do I do for them?

Hi,

Thanks for your question.

After going through your question, I can understand your concern.

There most likely possibility of sebaceous cyst or boils or folliculitis (infection of sebaceous glands or Hair follicle)

These kinds recurrent skin infections may be due to underlying causes like diabetes, use of steroids, excessive sweating.

You should consult your doctor for detailed clinical examination .

Following investigation may be required depending upon clinical evaluation -
- Complete Blood Count.
- Blood sugar levels (Fasting & Postprandial), HbA1c.

There may be need for antibiotics like amoxicillin with clavulunic acid.
Use pain killer with anti-inflammatory like aceclofenac with serratopeptidase.

In case of sebaceous cyst there may be need for surgical excision.
Simple rupture of sebaceous cyst may associated with recurrence due to remaining cyst wall.

Hope this helps you, if so do vote as helpful.
