Suggest Treatment For Gum Infection Due To Wisdom Tooth

Hi..am currently having a gum infection due to wisdom tooth. Doctor had gave me metrogyl 200 but since i'm fully breastfeeding my 2 months baby he asked me to stop breastfeeding for a moment until my infection cured. The problem is my baby reject bottle feeding right now and I wonder what is other antibiotic option for me so that I can still breastfeed my baby?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern....

As per your complain it seems that you have Pericoronitis and gum infection in case of wisdom tooth is caused mostly due to it..
It is true that metronidazole [metrogyl] is excreted in milk so it is not indicated in breast feeding mothers and you should not take it in case you have to feed your baby and any other medication should also be taken only after consultation with your gynaecologist and obstetrician..
As far as treatment of pericoronitis is concerned Amoxicillin 250 mg is considered safe while for pain Paracetamol can be taken..
You should do warm saline gargles, chlorhexidine gargles, and maintain a good oral hygeine and avoid food lodgement in that area will help in resolution of infection and inflammation soon..

Hope this information helps..
