Suggest Treatment For Growth In The Nasal Opening

my daughter has been having problem wt her breathing since she was a baby.I was made she has a growth in the nostril which blocks easy passage of air thus making her snore.learnt the best solution is surgery and not antibiotics and anti histamines.how safe is the surgery.she is 8 years now

Hi dear ,

The symptoms you mention in query are due to nasal polyp . Nasal polyps are benign growths of the lining of your nose . To treat these polyps there are medicines available like antibiotics and anti inflammatory drugs . There are nasal sprays that are available like fluticasone , most of then are steroid in nature . But steroids can not be use for long term because of there side effects . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination and discus about medicine with doctor . If the doctor find that polyps are big in size and drugs will not be effective then doctor will recommend you surgical excision. The type of surgery depends on the size of the polyp. Sugery is done by very small device ( suction device or a microdebrider ) so its totally safe procedure .

After surgery, nasal sprays and saline washes are prescribed to prevent polyps from returning.
