General & Family Physician 's  Response

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. If it is acute gout , that is with symptoms like localised pain, swelling and redness then it is managed with NSAIDs like ibuprofen. If not improving then colchicine or corticosteroids are advised. But if it is chronic conditions and there is no acute symptoms then therapy with drugs like allopurinol will be helpful. Usual dosage I give is 100mg initially and later increased to 200 or 300 if needed. Colchicine and allopurinol are prescription drugs.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
